If you’ve ever felt lost, stuck, or unsure of your path in life, then you’re not alone. For me, spirituality wasn’t always part of my journey. Growing up I didn’t really understand what it meant to be ‘spiritual’ and I rarely prayed. However, when I was struggling with cystic acne—something that felt like a constant battle—and searching how to heal from it. I realised that true healing wasn’t just about what I ate or the supplements I took. It was about the emotional wounds I had buried, the stress I carried, and the unhealed trauma that was manifesting in my body.
At first, I approached healing in a purely physical way. I cut out refined sugar & inflammatory foods, researched gut health, and detoxed my skincare routine. But no matter what I did, the breakouts persisted. It was frustrating, exhausting, and emotionally draining. I felt like I was doing everything ‘right’ and yet, I wasn’t seeing the transformation I desperately wanted.
However. when I started exploring the emotional and energetic side of healing. I began to recognise the stress, past traumas, and self-doubt that were weighing me down. That’s when I came across Gabrielle Bernstein (Bestselling Author & Spiritual Teacher), and her words changed everything.
Gabby helped me understand that healing is as much about our inner world as it is about our external habits. Her practices guided me to connect with my authentic self, uncover the deeper emotional roots of my struggles, and trust in something greater than myself.
Developing my spirituality helped me feel like I wasn’t alone in my healing journey. There was an unseen, constant level of support and connection around me—something I had never tapped into before. The more I leaned into spirituality, meditated and prayed, the more peace and clarity I found. It was the missing piece in my healing journey I had been looking for.
You don’t have to be religious or have any particular beliefs to benefit from spiritual practices. Spirituality is about connection—connection to yourself, to the universe/higher power/God – (whatever you prefer to call it) to something greater than the everyday stresses of life.
5 Ways to Develop Your Spiritual Practice

Healing—whether from physical struggles, emotional wounds, or life’s uncertainties—is a journey. It’s not always linear, and it’s certainly not always easy. However, when you cultivate a spiritual practice, you begin to trust the process, knowing that you are supported, guided, and exactly where you are meant to be, you will feel the difference in your mind and body.
